After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the next Drum Fantasy Camp is set: August 5-9, 2022, at Musicians Institute and the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA! Mark Guiliana (David Bowie/Brad Mehldau), Simon Phillips (Toto/Protocol), Steve Smith (Journey/Vital Information), and Dave Weckl (Chick Corea/Mike Stern) are on board! Returning to DFC is our incredible band featuring bassist Hagar Ben Ari (The Late Late Show with James Corden), keyboardist Stu Mindeman (Kurt Elling/Dave Weckl), singer Chrissi Poland (Moby/Michael Bolton), and guitarist Vinny Valentino (George Benson/Vital Information). The concert features sets featuring each of our four drumming instructors: Mark Guiliana, Simon Phillips, Steve Smith, and Dave Weckl. Drum Fantasy Camp completed its first-ever AccessCuba trip! 24 people joined legendary drummer Dave Weckl for musical exchanges, concerts featuring Dave, and plenty of exploration in Havana! Steven is hands-on at the camp, running the events and making himself available to talk about the industry and best practices for getting ahead. Music Director Vinny Valentino is a composer/guitartist in Steve Smith's band: Steve Smith and Vital Information NYC Edition. He also writes and records with George Benson and several other prominent artists. Vinny organizes the concerts, runs the nightly jams, and teaches a "Groove Class" that our attendees are welcome to attend. Everyone at DFC is friendly and encouraging.
