The Camp
Now in its third year, Drum Fantasy Camp
is the premiere educational and
inspirational experience. Drummers of all ages and playing levels - and
from all over the world - come together for intimate master
classes, concerts, and jam sessions with some of the world's
greatest drummers.
This year's
staff includes Dave Weckl (Chick Corea,
Mike Stern, the Dave Weckl Band), Steve Smith
(Journey, Vital Information, Steps Ahead), Dafnis
Prieto (Herbie Hancock, Michel Camilo, Branford
Marsalis), and Peter Erskine (appears on more than
500 albums!)

How Does
the Camp Work?
On day one, you
attend the opening clinic/concert (per above).
Then, for the
next four days, you attend two 3-hour master
classes per day. By the end of camp, you will have worked
with each instructor. People local to the Cleveland area
can purchase individual classes or day passes - click here for more
information about this.
Three of the
evenings are called "jam nights." On "jam nights," campers
alternate getting up and playing with Baron Browne
and Vinny Valentino (from Vital Information)
and singer Chrissi Poland (who recently performed
with Sting!) It's also a chance to hang out with fellow
campers and the instructors, who also get up to play! That's
when it gets fun...
Who
Attends?
It may sound crazy, but
attendees range widely in age and playing ability. What they
all have in common: a love for drumming and an appreciation
for the instructors they will learn from.
Attendees include working drummers,
"weekend warriors," high school and college
students, young drummers
attending with their parents, and plenty of "aficionados" who only
pick up the sticks periodically. The age range is 12-60!
Even more
incredible: people come from all over the country and all
over the world. In 2008, attendees came from: the United
States, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Aruba, Portugal, the UK,
Germany, Italy, Greece, Japan, and more!
