if you would like a personal call.
Q. What is Drum Fantasy Camp?
A. drumFantasy.12 is a unique event for drummers of
all levels to learn from and be inspired by some of the very best
drummers in the world - all in an intimate and personal setting.
Attendees will experience three-hour master classes with several
world-class drummers and musicians, plus concerts, and the chance to
jam with a world-class band.
Q. Where
and when is the camp taking place?
A.
The Camp takes place in Cleveland, Ohio,
August 9-13, 2012, at the
Hyatt Regency hotel and House of
Blues.
Cleveland is a great town
and there is plenty to do. Though we'll keep you busy with
the camp, there are great restaurants near the
hotel. Plus, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is right
down the street, along with Progressive Field and
some of the country's finest museums.

Q. How do I know if I am at the
right playing level in order to enjoy and appreciate this
experience?
A.
drumFantasy.12 is designed
for drummers of all levels.
The master classes are intimate and cover both broad concepts plus
more focused individual topics. There are less than 20 people in a class, so your input
affects how the class runs. Even if you're not a high-level player,
you'll love the camp if you enjoy talking it and learning about
drums.
Q. What
about food?
A.
Food is not included - but it will be readily
available and good! The hotel will provide a "grab and go" breakfast
and lunch stand (with Starbucks) right outside the classrooms.
During "Jam Nights," the hotel will have food and drinks available
for purchase.
Plus, there are
plenty of restaurants and delivery options right outside in
Cleveland's
East
4th neighborhood.
Q. Is this
an "overnight" camp?
A.
Yes, but this is your choice.
If you live in the Cleveland area and want to
commute to the camp, we have packages without a hotel room, which
will save you money.
We will secure
rooms for those who are traveling (roughly 90% of our campers travel
to the camp from out of the state and the country). The rooms are included for
the "camp"
package and you will find this to be the least expensive way to
stay.
If you stay with us, we will assign
you a roommate. If you would like to stay with someone in
particular, please let us know on the registration form and we will
make every effort to accommodate you. Either way, you should know
that very little time is spent in the hotel room. We keep you busy!
If you would like a private room, there is an extra fee to cover the
entire cost of the hotel room.
Q. I can't stay for the
whole camp. Can I come for only part of
the camp?
A.
Yes. We have several options available, including individual classes
and day packages. Some packages include the opening clinic/concert
event. Click
here to read about
camp packages.
Q. What
is the general atmosphere of the camp? Is it competitive?
A.
Absolutely not. The philosophy of
Drum Fantasy Camp is on par with the instructors who will teach there.
That is: drumming is part of making music, and music is not a
competition. But it is fun!
From
the large group sessions to the intimate master study groups and the
"Jam Night" performances, you will learn and share perspectives
on drumming in the most positive and professional manner. And we
have found that many past attendees have stayed in touch after the
camp.
There is a lot of bonding and sharing of information at the camp.
It's a great atmosphere.
Q. What
kind of access will I have to the instructors?
A.
The entire staff will be available
throughout the camp because they are staying at the hotel and eating
their meals there, too. Though they will need breaks just as all the
campers will, you will find them hanging around between classes and
in the food court just like everyone else.
These are great times to ask questions and get
answers. We just ask that this be done in a courteous
manner with the instructors and other campers in mind.
Q. How old
do you have to be to attend this camp?
A. Drum
Fantasy Camp
attracts people of all ages. The age range has been 10-65. All are welcome, but there are a few
guidelines for younger attendees:
Participants
must be 18 years-of-age to stay overnight at the camp alone.
Participants under the age of 18 may stay overnight if
accompanied by a parent or approved family member. Participants
under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Parent/guardians are not allowed in the classes so that there are no
distractions! The hotel has plenty of comfortable areas to spend
time during classes.
Q. I am a
music teacher and want to bring a group of students. Is there a
discount?
A.
Absolutely. Please write to us at
questions@drumfantasycamp.com to discuss a group discount.
Q. What
should I bring to the camp?
A. Please make sure to bring your favorite pair of sticks
and a practice pad. We will also have sticks available for purchase.
Also, make sure to bring a camera to capture some incredible
memories!
Q. What styles of drumming will be covered at the camp?
A.
The curriculum of drumFantasy.12
will focus on building a foundation of solid technique, practice routines, performance
prowess, and music industry knowledge. Several styles will be
addressed.
See
the instructors page for more
information about last year's instructors.
Q. Are the clinic and concerts open to the
public?
A. Yes - anyone can attend the concert. If you are registered
for any of the camp packages, you automatically get one ticket. If
you want to just attend the concert and/or the opening clinic, you
can purchase a separate ticket.
Jam Nights are only open to
campers and their families.

running this camp?

operated by OMC, a company that provides marketing and
management services to Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Tommy Igoe, and several other
musicians. The camp has been designed by
OMC with the direct input of the instructors, but is owned and
operated separately.

I need to cancel my registration? What is the cancellation policy?
